We love breweries, there’s no denying that! We’ve covered several grand openings around the area, so when something new comes around, you bet we’re eager to check it out. While there’s an abundance of craft breweries around the Monmouth County and greater Jersey Shore area, this is the first time we’ve come across a meadery. Well, that’s exactly what you’ll find at Beach Bee Meadery in Long Branch!
Situated not too far from the busyness of Pier Village, Beach Bee Meadery comes to us at a very strange time. The pandemic has certainly made it challenging for many small businesses to operate, but Beach Bee Meadery is unique within the brewery space. For starters, they specialize in making mead and hard cider. If you’re wondering what mead is, it’s actually an alcoholic beverage made with honey — and in their case, it’s wine.

Interestingly enough, Beach Bee Meadery officially opened its doors back last winter. Given that winters at the Jersey Shore tend to be a quieter, you certainly knew they’d be gaining steam with the arrival of spring and summer. Obviously, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic changed everything, but they’ve been able to open with limited capacity thanks to outdoor seating.
At the moment, they’re unable to offer flights of its drinks, but you can order regular drink orders. Offering a variety of mead and hard cider, it’s a departure from what you get from typical breweries. We were delighted by the taste of the hard cider, which wasn’t too heavily carbonated. It’s a perfect balance that makes for a refreshing drink during the summer. If you’re looking to order something to go, many of its hard cider and mead are available for purchase.
If you plan on having a beach day over at Pier Village, definitely swing by Beach Bee Meadery for a special surprise. They’re located on 89 Long Branch Avenue in Long Branch. Check out some of our photos from our recent visit below.
