Red Bank Classic 2019 drew more runners & teams to compete in the 2nd annual race [video]

The 2nd annual Red Bank Classic has come and gone, bringing racers of all kinds into town for a 5K race. Individual runners and teams made up the crowd of people that converged onto Broad Street on the morning of Saturday, June 15, 2019.

After a successful inaugural event last year, organized by the Red Bank Business Alliance and Red Bank RiverCenter, the Red Bank Classic was green lit for a second go-around. The event also served to benefit the Red Bank Parks and Recreation, in addition to The Community YMCA of Red Bank.

As racers sprinted out of the starting line, it didn’t take too long before the first finishers crossed the line a little after the 16 minute mark – an impressive feat given we’re talking about a 3.1 mile run! Some were competing for top-spots, but others were running for a totally different purpose.

We spoke with Angela Courtney, owner of Sweetest Sin Boutique and one the main organizers of the Red Bank Classic, who talks more about what’s new with this year’s race. Additional, Community YMCA of Red Bank Director of marketing, Teicia Gaupp, talked to us about the YMCA’s broader role with the race and community. You can watch our interviews with both individuals in our video above.
