Two River Theater’s latest ongoing production is August Wilson’s “King Hedley II,” which is running now until December 16th. Directed by none other than Two River Theater veteran Brandon J. Dirden, who has starred and participated in many productions at the theater, it features an intimate cast consisting of Brittany Bellizeare (Tonya), Harvy Blanks (Elmore), Brian D. Coats (Stool Pigeon), Elain Graham (Ruby), Charlie Hudson III (Mister), and Blake Morris (King Hedley II).

Below, you’ll find the synopsis of August Wilson’s King Hedley II.

“The year is 1985 and Pittsburgh’s Hill District has been ravaged by violence,unemployment, and urban blight. King Hedley II returns to his home after a seven-year prison term looking to re-build his life, save some money, and start a family. However, both he and those around him quickly find that in 1980s America, the rules have changed.”

The drama was thrilling to the end, keeping the audience in their seats as the play entered its finale towards the end. Afterwards, the opening night festivities were accompanied with speeches, amazing food, and audience members getting the opportunity to meet and greet with some of the cast members.
