Clean Ocean Action surf contest open to all ages & skill levels on October 7th

 

Local environmental group and non-profit, Clean Ocean Action, will be hosting a surf contest in Long Branch on Sunday, October 7th. The “Clean Ocean Action Open” will feature a surf competition covering various divisions that’ll be open to all ages and skill levels. Afterwards, there will be a beach sweep to clean up any debris on the beach – as well as an after-party with food, drinks, live music, and more!

It’s official! We are incredibly stoked to announce the long-awaited return of the Clean Ocean Action Open surf contest. The 2018 Open will run on Sunday, October 7th at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park in Long Branch, NJ. This competition will be comprised of eight divisions that will accommodate all ages and skill levels, from the tiniest grom to the most experienced professional surfers. The contest will be followed by a short Beach Sweep and an epic After-Party hosted by 2nd Jetty Seafood and Tito’s Handmade Vodka which will feature great local food, live music, Tito’s drinks and a whole lot of celebration. Clean Ocean Action has been working for 34 years to keep our beaches and ocean clean, ensuring that surfers can enter the water with the confidence that it is safe for their enjoyment. This contest will serve as a way for the surfing community to come together and show support for the ocean that we all call home. All proceeds from the competition will go to COA’s vital water quality programs. Thanks to our incredible sponsors, 2nd Jetty, TAK Waterman and Tito’s Handmade Vodka for making this event possible!

Following the Beach Sweep, all contestants and spectators will be invited to join The Open After-Party at 2nd Jetty Seafood for live music, local food, drinks from Tito’s Handmade Vodka and the announcement of the contest winners. It’s going to be an epic night in Monmouth County that you won’t want to miss.

The 2018 Open will offer surfers of all ages and levels an opportunity to participate in a fun day of competition alongside their favorite local pros! All proceeds from this event will go to Clean Ocean Action, an organization that has worked for 34 years to keep New Jersey’s beaches and ocean clean and safe for all to enjoy.

The contest will comprise of 8 divisions: Pro Division (Men & Women), Men 18+, Women 18+, Junior Men 13-17, Junior Women 13-17, Grom Boys 12 & under, Grom Girls 12 & Under, Longboard Open. Sign up now to reserve a spot in your respective division. REGISTRATION ENDS ON OCTOBER 1ST. On the day of The Open, registered competitors will receive a contest t-shirt created by TAK Waterman and a wristband for access to the After-Party hosted by 2nd Jetty Seafood.

NOTICE If the division in which you plan to compete is already full:Please email programs@cleanoceanaction.org with your full name and the division in which you would like to compete. During the week prior to the contest, we will evaluate the number of participants registered and will work to make room for those on the waitlist. If you are moved from the waitlist to the division of your choice, you will be notified via email and your registration fee will be due at check-in on the day of the event.

Registration is now open with tickets costing $50 for each participant in the surf contest. It’ll be held from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM over at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park on 221 Ocean Avenue in Long Branch, NJ.
