Will 4th of July fireworks celebrations still happen around the Jersey Shore?

Can you believe we’re less than two weeks away from Independence Day? Time is surely flying by quick, but we imagine that most people don’t mind given the events that have occurred so far in 2020. Some people would very well be content hitting the fast forward button at this point. Still, one of the year’s biggest holidays will undoubtedly be different.

There hasn’t been a ton of whispers regarding 4th of July plans in-and-around the greater Jersey Shore area. In years past, townships would’ve been advertising online their respective celebrations, but with the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic still very much fresh on our minds, it’s one of the main reasons why there hasn’t been much talk about hosting fireworks celebrations this year.

Surprisingly, though, New York City announced plans to move forward with Macy’s signature 4th of July fireworks show. And that makes us wonder if popular shore destinations such as Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Belmar will be hosting some sort of fireworks showcase. If you’ve attended some of them, you definitely know that they draw significant crowds. While the outdoor scenery helps, the crowds will be something that townships will need to consider if they intend on hosting them.

Many other popular destinations, such as Bell Works and Monmouth Park Racetrack, currently do not have any major events in the pipeline — indicating that they’re taking stronger measures to combat the ongoing pandemic. If you look on Facebook, too, there isn’t a whole lot planned for July 4th when it comes to fireworks. There’s no denying that this year’s July 4th celebrations will be different.
