Seafood lovers, you’re going to be ecstatic when you read on the news below about the 25th annual Highlands Clamfest, which is slated to run August 1st to August 4th!
Food and Music lovers will fill the streets at the
Highlands Business Partnership’s 25th Annual Clam Festival from August 1st to August 4th at Huddy Park on Bay & Waterwitch Avenues. The famous Clam Festival is a four-day spectacular event featuring a 120’ seafood court serving the freshest food from many of Highlands’ famous restaurants. Admission and parking is free, and the event takes place rain or shine.
The 25th Annual Clam Fest will feature a Beer and Wine Garden on the corner of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues. Big Mark’s Amusements will set up the midway and Paladin Amusements will provide an action packed game court. Portions of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues will be closed to street traffic to accommodate the specialty vendor’s marketplace and the succulent food court with many popular Highland’s restaurants such as Chilangos and Lusty Lobster. Other festival favorites and a landlubber menu will also be available. The Highlands Fire Department BBQ tent will have their famous ribs, burgers, hot dogs and more. There will be plenty of novelty foods such as the Lions Club Funnel Cakes, Fruit Smoothies, Ice Cream, and much more.
On Thursday, August 1st, the action takes place from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. Local favorite Cranston Dean will perform and DJ Johnny will emcee the festival.
Clamfest hours are 6:00 to 11:00PM on Friday, August 2nd, with entertainment by The Jonzes, from 7:00-11:00PM. On Saturday, August 3rd, the festival begins at noon, with the Steel Rail on stage from 12-4PM, and Motor City Revue from 6:00 –10:00PM.
Clamfest hours on Sunday, August 4th, are noon to 8:00 PM. The Highlands Community Singers featuring their hit, “Happy As A Clam” will be on stage from 12:00– 1:00 PM.
The Clamfest’s world-class CLAM-SHUCKING COMPETITION kicks off at 2:00 PM sponsored by Lusty Lobster and has a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizewinner to the person who finishes shucking their Clams first.
The famous ALL YOU CAN EAT CLAM CONTEST, sponsored by Station One Seafood, will begin promptly at 2:30 pm and be limited to 15 contestants. This is also a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize contest to the person who can eat the most clams from their bucket in five (5) minutes. Registration for ALL Contests begins at Noon.
Rave On! will take the stage from 4:30 – 7:30. The Highlands Business Partnership’s “King of the Clam” super 50/50 drawing will be drawn on Sunday, August 4th at 7:00pm.
