DESCRIPTION:CELEBRATING OUR SIXTEENTH YEAR!!! \nThe Asbury Park Zombie Walk will officially kick off the Halloween season in Asbury Park on Saturday\, October 5th. This year our all-ages event celebrates it’s 16th year of brains on the Boardwalk and in the City of Asbury Park. \nPresented by Johnny Mac House of Spirits and sponsored by MINI of Edison. \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS \n11:00am – ZOMBIES BEGIN GATHERINGThe Zombie Walk Makeup Tent will open right along the Boardwalk on the 4th Avenue Green Space. 11 AM is the beginning of Zombie Makeover time\, with Professional Makeup Artists  working their spooky magic.  Walk participants are welcome to attend in their own makeup  or to patronize the makeup artists for a fee. \n11:00am – 3:00pm – ZOMBIE MAKEOVERS ARE BACK!Makeup artists will return to the event this year in a limited capacity to offer contact-free airbrush makeup at the Zombie Walk tent located at the 4th Avenue Green Space on the Boardwalk.  \nAdditionally\, every attendee is welcome\, as is their costuming creativity\, but we must ask that everyone leave ALL prop weapons at home. Our all-inclusive event is safe\, lighthearted fun.  \n3:00pm – COSTUME CONTEST JUDGES IN THE CROWDThe day will also include competitive zombie-ing in the form of a Zombie Costume Contest. Costumed competitors must be on the Boardwalk at 3:00. Our judges will wandering the Boardwalk\, choosing finalists for Best Young Zombie\, Best Adult\, Best Couple and Best Group costumes. At 6:00\, Johnny Mac House of Spirits will host the final judging and present both cash prizes and the prestigious new golden zombie trophy to some of the day’s most impressive dead. \n4:00pm – THE ZOMBIE WALK STARTSThe Walk will begin moving up the Boardwalk\, heading from Convention Hall down the boards towards the Casino where it will turn onto Cookman Avenue and head into the Downtown! \n6:00pm – THE ZOMBIE WALK ENDS AT JOHNNY MACS!The Zombie Walk route ends outside of Johnny Macs House of Spirits on Main Street. DESCRIPTION:Authentic German food\, live music\, dancing and other great entertainment will be part of the Highlands Business Partnership 23rd Annual Oktoberfest celebration taking place in Veterans Park on Bay & Shrewsbury Avenues on Saturday\, October 5th from 12:00 – 7:00 PM\, (rain date 10/6)Admission and Parking is free. \nThe park is festive with fall decorations\, the food is great and the varieties of German beers are even better. Authentic German food is a highlight of this famous festival. There will be live Oompah and polka music performed by the Dance Hall Detour Band and performances throughout the day by the Bayern Verien Newark Dancers. \nBahrs Landing Restaurant is preparing the menu with plenty of traditional German favorites hot off the grill such as bratwurst\, knockwurst\, kraut\, potato pancakes\, goulash\, sauerbraten and Bavarian noodles along with other tasty fare those less adventurous. \nQuench your thirst with a large variety of Oktoberfest Beers\, both light and dark. Festivities will include a “Best-Dressed” Contest\, and a “Beer Stein Holding” Contest with special prizes. There will also be 50/50 drawings with 50% of the proceeds going to the lucky winners. \nThere is something for everyone at the Highlands Oktoberfest.
