Book signing & poetry reading with the Artisan Collective’s ‘Typing Into Art’ event

The Artisan Collective’s next event, Typing Into Art, will be held on Saturday, February 8, featuring artists P.T. Berkey and Maggie Jelly.

An author and a young artist found a common inspiration in a typewriter. Watch and listen as these 2 artists come together during our Typing Into Art event.

Maggie’s experience include creating local murals, private commissions and installations at Asbury’s Sea Hear Now music festival. She enjoys exploring new ways to use medium, designing large public works, and creating surrealistic compositions, but primarily focused on realism in oil paint portraits.

Paul “P.T.” is fascinated with the beauty and power of words, he began writing prose and poetry at the age of 16. At 19 years of age, he left New Jersey for the West Coast to travel and write- with a vision of one day publishing parts of his adventures. Some of his favorite authors include- Kerouac, Hesse, and Bukowski. He is well known for typing his work on one of his many vintage typewriters.

Swear Words & Love Notes is the debut poetry collection of Paul’s where he writes from the soul, on matters of the heart, the human condition, and the beauty and sorrows of life. It is an adventure for the mind, as he takes us all over the world with his words, to come to places of understanding, peace, turmoil, heartbreak, and self- discovery alike. Swear words & Love Notes moves the reader with its anecdotes on relationships, love, and compassion. In this collection of poetry, you will find P. T. Berkey as raw as he has ever been.

Paul is currently working on his second Poetry collection due to be released in 2020.

Typing into Art will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Artisan Collective’s location on 43 Broad Street in Red Bank, NJ.
