Tucked in one of the quieter side streets of Broad Street in Red Bank, Chelsea Yarns is about to achieve a monumental occasion – its 1-year anniversary of being open in Red Bank.
As its name implies, Chelsea Yarns is a store that caters to the timeless craft of knitting and crocheting through the sale of its vast assortment of yarn. And boy is it a place full of yarn, you’ll be astounded by the collection, which consists of colorful ones that are dyed locally. In addition to selling yarn, you’ll also find a variety of books, accessories, and jewelry.
Prior to its current location over at 25 Mechanic Street, Chelsea Yarns was located originally in Colts Neck. When coming up with the idea for Chelsea Yarns, store owner Christina Lundborg, originally envisioned it to be a place where people could hang out together and knit – giving it that sort of community atmosphere for enthusiasts and beginners. And you know what? That’s essentially what you get when entering the store, as a long table track is centered at the middle of the location.
Now, what makes Chelsea Yarns so successful is how they’ve embraced social media to achieve a far-reaching following. From its picturesque posts of all-things yarn on Instagram, to the podcasts they conduct frequently on YouTube, they’re one of the few businesses that effectively leverages all of the social media platforms to generate interest and business.
Even though it’s located on a side street, it doesn’t impact the flow of customers coming into Chelsea Yarns – customers come far and wide thanks to the relationship they’ve established. Better yet, Christina is thrilled to be in Red Bank, which has opened up more opportunities!
Nearing its one-year anniversary, we’re told that plans are being made for a huge celebration on Saturday, March 3rd, so you’ll want to circle the date. Don’t be afraid to swing by the store regardless, just because you never know what might pique your interest.
As always, don’t forget to check out all the photos from our recent visit below!
